Back to School in Virginia Beach

All Virginia Beach high public school students are eligible to apply to any of the academies in the city: Legal Studies at First Colonial High School, Health Sciences at Bayside high school, Global Studies and World Languages at Tallwood high school, Mathematics and Science at Ocean Lakes high school, Environmental Studies at the Brock Center, Entrepreneurship and Business at Kempsville high school, and the International Baccalaureate academy at Princess Anne high school. 

Landstown Middle champions its AVID program, which is designed to prepare students for college and careers. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, and while there are AVID electives available, the philosophy is applied school-wide, emphasizing open access to curricula, equity, organization and readiness. Students are nurtured through rigorous coursework with support systems in place to ensure success. Landstown Lancers work hard and play hard, with season athletics and academic teams including Academic Challenge, Forensics and Debate. 

Landstown Elementary school is rated 4 out of 5, and students perform above average on standardized testing. It’s located just two miles from the Apartments at Spence Crossing. Landstown Middle School is also located just two miles away from Spence Crossing, and it is ranked 3.8 out of 5. The school mascot is the Dolphin, and students thrive in the school which scores in the to 30% in the state for math and the top 21% for language arts.
