A New Way to Explore Virginia Waterways
Go Kayak! offers residents an alternative method for seeing the area's scenic waterways. Tours depart from First Landing State Park and launch into Broad Bay's beautiful stretch of water. The kayak launch area is located near 64th street, just minutes away from our apartments near Tidewater Community College.
From there, you'll have a quick, fifteen-minute lesson on the basics of paddling a lightweight kayak. After that, you’ll embark on a two-hour guided tour of the Broad Bay area.
Paddling With a Porpoise
The company's tagline promises direct interaction with marine life. Given the rich ecosystem in the waterways around Virginia Beach, chances are high that you'll catch a glimpse of social animals like dolphins and porpoises. In fact, Go Kayak! partners with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to promote dolphin conservation efforts around the region.
As you paddle through the park's gorgeous and historic maritime forest, you'll see an assortment of other creatures besides dolphins. Go Kayak! tours offer three different time slots, seven days a week. Each tour comes with the benefit of its own experienced guide. Although a minimum two person group is needed for departure, the rates are extremely affordable at $59 a person, especially given the value included with the tour.
