Virginia Beach has a rich history that can be explored at one of its many museums or historic sites. Luckily, you can dive into its past from the comfort of home on virtual tours that are now being offered.
Kick back, relax, and enjoy our city’s vibrant history from the comfort of our apartments in Virginia Beach.
Cape Henry Lighthouse
One of the oldest types of these towers still standing in America, the Cape Henry Lighthouse is a stunning structure worthy of a visit even if it's a virtual one. Built around 1792, this navigational aid has been a beacon for seafaring folks and the virtual tour encompasses the view from the top of the tower. There are rotating images from the first floor of the lighthouse where the staircase begins and virtual visitors are invited to meander around the exterior grounds.
Military Aviation Museum
Along with live camera views from inside the hangar, you can do a self-guided virtual tour of the Military Aviation Museum. As the world's largest privately-owned collection of 65 planes from the first 50 years of military aviation, this is a historic experience that shouldn't be missed. Brilliantly restored to their original beauty, this is a great way to learn more about the aircraft that flew proudly during WWI and WWII.
Francis Land House
When local museums are closed, there is at least one historic site in Virginia Beach that's open 24/7 when accessed online. Enjoy the 3D experience at the Francis Land House where this wealthy owner, his wives, and daughters resided during the early nineteenth century. The interior of this historic home is furnished with a mix of period antiques and reproductions meant to represent the period of 1805-1819.
